The government of the Republic of Korea has decided to provide 2.5 million U.S. dollars through the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to provide essential support to Sudanese communities affected by armed conflict and flooding. This funding will be used for emergency relief operations to address the urgent needs faced by internally displaced persons (IDPs) across Sudan.
Mohamed Refaat, IOM Representative in Sudan, stated: "We are grateful for the Republic of Korea's valuable and continued support. This contribution will enable IOM to expand necessary relief operations to reach more people who need immediate assistance."
Ambassador Namgung Hwan said: "The ongoing armed conflict in Sudan has resulted in more than 10 million people becoming internally displaced. The Korean government continues to provide assistance to stand with the Sudanese people during these difficult times. We hope that Korea's support delivered through IOM will contribute to providing essential and urgent relief in this tragic situation caused by armed conflict."
